The fresh view of Thanos Papakonstantinou, theatrical director, and the scenery and costumes by Niki Psychogiou will revive the ancient myth on the stage of Olympia through Gluck’s intensely dramatic music which eloquenty depicts the particular soul and character of the drama’s heroes.
An exotic setting, a sister that has been lost, a crazy brother, a human sacrifice, the suspense, the danger, the divine intervention: characteristics which, added up, ensure a fascinating tragedy. The opera “Iphigenia in Tauris” by Gluck, based on the eponymous Greek tragedy by Euripides, tells the story of the turning point and the ending of the myths of Iphigenia and Orestes.
Strobe lights are used in the performance.
