The Municipal Smyrna and Constantinople Estudiantina of Athens “Panayis Vaindirlis -Ta Politakia” (Municipal Estudiantina of Athens dedicated to Izmir and Istanbul “Panayis Vaindirlis -The Little Ensemble from Constantinople) presents the Concert “It was just a dream, but it was not forgotten”, in the frame of the 100 years’ anniversary of the Great Fire of Smyrna and the end of the existence of the Greek community of Anatolia.
A nostalgic tribute to the particular musical repertoire of a school of music that included every kind of expression of musical creation, from cantada (lovesong sang under the balcony of the beloved young girl) and operetta, to popular and folk music.
A unique musical trip to the works of: Kostas Yannidis, Yannis Sideris, Timoleon Xanthopoulos, Panayotis Toundas, Panayis Vaindirlis, Kostas Skarvelis, Dimos Moutsis, Stavros Xarhakos and Apostolos Kaldaras.
Melodies that were loved by many different generations of Greeks, songs that speak to the people’s souls, full of feelings and memories.
